The Elimination Diet - Day 33

Day 33

I spent the last few days prepping to start re-introducing new categories in to my diet again and I’m so happy I took that short pause.  I have purchased about 90% of the rest of the non-perishable foods I need to get me through the rest of the program and I cooked enough food this weekend for two people to eat for the week.  So, starting tomorrow, I’m going to be back on schedule.

I feel lucky that I have the time and the means to prep for this program the way I do.  I can’t imagine what it would be like having to do this with a family to take care.  For anyone who has done it and takes care of a family, hats off to them.

One of the things I was worried about with taking a week off is that it would be a slippery slope in to quitting.  I was worried that I would find one reason and then another to keep stalling but just the opposite has happened.  Last Thursday and Friday I had fairly large cheats but instead of it being a slippery slope and making me want to keep on cheating, it actually had the opposite effect.  I couldn’t wait to let my stomach rest and get started again.

It’s such a big testament to how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time.  I am allowing myself to be real about this program without beating myself up but also continuing on and not quitting.  I listened to my body and my heart and it’s paid off.  I cheated less this last week then if I had tried to stay on the plan and I have to say, I’m so proud of myself.  I’m feeling really positive and optimistic and looking forward to tomorrow!

On another note, I’m definitely making these donuts when I can add sugar.
